Yakasai cautions Buhari on selective probe

KANO—Elder statesman, Tanko Yakasai, has cautioned
President Muhammadu Buhari to halt selective
persecution of perceived political opponents in the name
of fighting corruption.
In a statement
in Kano
yesterday, the
octogenarian
said that recent
action of the
administration
by some of its
leading figures
left much to be
desired.
Yakasai said:
“Recent policy and non-policy actions of the new
administration as promoted by some leading figures and
the administration’s security and anti-graft agencies, have
left much to be desired.”
He faulted the treatment meted out on the former
National Security Adviser, Colonel Sambo Dasuki (retd.),
and perceived opponents of the administration.
Yakasai disclosed that the overwhelming feeling today was
that Nigeria was on a walk- back to dictatorship, stressing
that the military background of President Muhammadu
Buhari had taken the front seat.
He appealed to the President to ensure that justice was
done to Nigerians, irrespective of their political
affiliations.
