Nigeria with cheap electoral propaganda, as we can see the political atmosphere of Edo State is at its peak again as a result of the expiration of Adams oshiomole's second tenure but i am less concerned about that, and I only want to pinpoint my reaction towards this picture which comprises of Oshiomole(the outgoing EDO STATE GOVERNOR , Godwin OBASEKI (the APC gubernatorial candidate in Edo State) and Co . this picture tells me that Nigerians are fools, using eating of corns in the street which u have not step for decades as a parameter to convince people to vote for u, I'm neither an anti APC nor an anti PDP or any political party but politics should be more than sympathy, in 1990 Nigerians gave Oluwasegun Obasanjo a sympathetic votes simply because he was just released from prison and at the end we all knew what the result of his tenure was, in 2012 Jonathan came up with i have no shoe coupled with how lucky he was to rise to the position of deputy governor and also Governor later to VP and when he wanted to contests for president a sympathetic votes was also given to him, we also saw what the outcome was, last year a sympathetic vote was also given to the man from daura president Mohammed Buhari because he has contested for three consecutive times without winning and because of his endurance we voted for him,now my question is should the people of Edo State give a sympathetic votes to OBASEKI the APC flag bearer because he ate corn while walking in the street which he has never done before. Let's put an end to all these political stunts. when did u see any picture of Donald Trumph with any sympathetic postures rather they would had an open debate, convince the people with there manifestos and people would ask them series of questions through this means as an individual you would know who you are going to vote for but the reverse is the case in Nigeria. All what they know is to come up with a useless friction which would make people to give them sympathetic vote. 'Most Wanted Job Scammer’ Arrested

The Nigerian Customs Service (NCS) has arrested one of
Nigeria’s most wantef notorious fraudsters involved in
online advertising scams on non-existing vacancies in
government agencies, PRNigeria is reporting.
The suspected kingpin, whose real name was given as
Abubakar Rilwan, had been declared wanted by some
security agencies in the country before his arrest.
A top customs officer stated: “Abubakar Rilwan, who is
evidently disabled is one of the principal actors and
suspect in a job/auction scam syndicate. Whatever he
lacks in physical ability, he makes up for in his
exceptional ability to manipulate and swindle his victims.
“He has duped desperate job and auction seekers to the
tune of over 20 million naira, sometimes using the
services of lawyers.
“In one of his escapades, he collected money from 7
(seven) job seekers in Taraba State, issued them fake
appointment letters, and caused them to travel all the way
to Bayelsa State for fake training. They got there before
realizing they were duped.”
While Mr. Rilwan is currently in the custody of the Nigeria
Customs Service undergoing further investigation, other
security agencies that had declared him wanted for
related offences are waiting to interrogate him.
The spokesperson of the Nigeria Customs Service, Wale
Adeniyi confirmed the arrest.

PDP Senators Withdraw Support For Buhari’s Government

Saraki, Ekweremadu for trial June 27

SENATORS elected on the platform of the Peoples
Democratic Party (PDP), yesterday, formally resolved to
withhold their support for the President Muhammadu
Buhari-led Federal Government.
They cited the actions of the All Progressives Congress
(APC)-led government to- wards their party members
since taking over the central government as reasons.
The resolution was taken following the court summon on
the Deputy Senate President, Ike Ekweremadu, along with
the Senate President, Bukola Saraki, over alleged forgery
of the Senate Standing Rules.
The Senators who met at a secret location in Abuja said
they would communicate their new position to the national
leadership of the party, after which it would be publicly
announced at a press conference.
A source at the meeting said a delegation comprising one
Senator from each of the geo-political zones, along with
Ekweremadu, would convey the position of the PDP
Senate caucus to the leadership and report back to- day.
Meanwhile, the Federal High Court in Abuja , yesterday,
officially summoned Saraki, Ekweremadu, former clerk to
the National Assembly, Alhaji Salisu Maikasuwa and
outgoing Deputy Clerk, Ben Efeturi, over their alleged
involvement in the forgery of Senate Standing Order in
2015.
The summon was effected through a substituted service
which was pasted at the corridor along the Senate
President’s Office. According to the summon, Saraki,
Ekweremadu, Maikasuwa and Efeturi are to appear
before the court on Monday, June 27.
The inability of the Federal Government to effect service
of court summons yesterday stalled their arraignment
before the High Court of the Federal Capital Territory
(FCT) on the alleged forgery of the Senate Rules.
When the case came up yesterday, before Justice Yusuf
Halilu none of the accused persons was in court and no
lawyer appeared for them.
The prosecution counsel, David Kaswe, attributed the
development to the inability of the bailiff to effect service
on the accused persons.
Parts of the summons read: “By oral application dated
21st June, 2016 moved by D.E Kaswe, Principal State
Counsel Federal Ministry of Justices in this case praying
the court for:
“An order of this Honourable Court granting leave to the
complainant/ applicant to serve the criminal summon on
the defendants by substituted means to wit by pasting it
at the Notice Board of the National Assembly Three Arms
Zone, Abuja.
“And after hearing D.E Kaswe with A.A Kaltingo Esq,
counsel for the complainant/ Applicant moved the court
orally for the above relief. “
Also included in the summon, were statements already
volunteered by Maikasuwa and Efeturi on their alleged
involvement in the forgery.
Maikasuwa in his own statement said: “The Senate
Standing Orders used in seventh Senate was not known
to me. The Clerk of the Senate is in position to know. I
was not aware of the amendment that was made to the
Standing rules.”
However, Efeturi said the Senate leadership handed the
2015 Standing Rules as amended by their convention and
practice to him.
But the Senate in its first reaction to the allegation, stated
that amendment of the standing rules was done by the
National Assembly bureaucracy.

Nollywood has lost an icon again exactly nine days after the
death of Henrietta Kosoko.
A popular Yoruba actor who often features in Odunlade
Adekola’s movies, Abdul Lateef Titilope aka Itakure is dead.
He passed away last night after two days of mild Malaria
fever.

In a press statement released by family members last night,
the deceased will be laid to his final resting place at his
family house in Ile Egbaunta, Agunpopo area of Oyo town.
The Islamic burial service will start at 8:00am today.

Retired army officer hangs self in Calabar

CALABAR—The remains of a retired captain of the
Nigerian Army, Friday William, found dangling on a
mango tree outside his apartment in Calabar, have
been taken to his hometown in Mkpat Enin, Akwa Ibom
State.
The father of eight, according to a neighbour, Abasi
Imoh, allegedly tied a rope on the mango tree outside
his apartment at 34, Edim Otop Street in the night while
his family was asleep and hung himself for a reason
yet to be ascertained.
“We woke up in the morning to behold the body
dangling on the mango tree outside the compound and
we do not know what was responsible for his action”.
Abasi stated.
The neighbour said before hanging himself, that the
retired captain reportedly sent a text message to his
son, who lives in Port Harcourt at about 10pm, to
condole with him over his death and advised him to be
strong to take care of his siblings.
“He sent the text to his first son at about 10 pm to
condole with him over his own death, but the son did
not see the message until he got a call the next
morning that his father had committed suicide and I
feel he had tied the rope ready for the act before he
sent the text”.
Abasi said the man had about three cars and got a lot
of money from his retirement benefits two years ago
and was living well which is the reason many people
are surprised with his action.
‘He was not poor because he had three cars and had
built a house in his village and was generally doing well
that is why we were surprised with his action.”

Fayemi’s huge debt crippled Ekiti — Fayose

Ado-Ekiti —Governor Ayodele Fayose of Ekiti State has
blamed his inability to pay workers salaries on the huge
debt inherited from the immediate past administration
of Governor Kayode Fayemi.
According to Fayose, the N25 billion bonds from the
Capital Market and another N31 billion commercial
loans, by the Fayemi’s administration are responsible
for the poor financial condition of the state and the
challenges faced in the payment of workers’ salaries.
Fayose, who stated this while reacting to the no-shift-
ground stance of the striking workers, said about N1.2
billion is being deducted monthly from the state’s
allocation to service the loans which the Kayode
Fayemi administration took in its four years in the
saddle.
The governor said if the N1.2 billion being deducted is
added to the state’s monthly allocations, his
administration will not owe workers.
Speaking through his Chief Press Secretary, Mr Idowu
Adelusi, in Ado-Ekiti yesterday, Fayose took a swipe at
the All Progressives Congress, APC, which he said had
been encouraging the labour not to call off the strike
action.
He said it was quite unfortunate that the Fayemi
administration also diverted the N850 million meant for
the Ekiti State Universal Basic Education Board and
thereby leading to the suspension of the state from the
Universal Basic Education Commission programmes
since 2012.
Fayose said he was surprised that when Fayemi took
the loans which now made payment of workers’
salaries difficult, the labour did not kick against the
moves.
The governor said the strike had been politicised
because of his criticism of the bad policies of the
Federal Government and his fight against tyranny.
APC asks DMO to clarify Ekiti debts profile
Perturbed by the claim of the Governor, APC in Ekiti
State has pleaded with the Debts Management Office
(DMO) in the Federal Ministry of Finance to make
another public clarification on the status of the state’s
debts to put to rest inconsistent debt figures being
presented by Governor Ayodele Fayose to the public to
justify non-payment of workers’ salaries and pensions
after taking 20 months federal allocations and N9.6bn
bailout cash.

In a statement by its Publicity Secretary, Taiwo
Olatunbosun, the party said this became imperative as
the governor had been giving inconsistent figures on
different occasions that had cast doubts on the
integrity of the state’s financial application.
On Fayose’s claim that the Fayemi administration
borrowed another N31 billion commercial loan apart
from the N25 billion bond, nothing could be farther
from the truth. Olatunbosun challenged him to provide
evidence of this loan and what it what used for as
records are there in the office of the Account General if
he is sure of his facts. The truth of the matter is that
Fayose has resorted to blatant lies to cover up his
many shady financial transactions and misapplication
of state funds, Olatunbosun said.”

Pickpockets rattle guests as Anambra deputy governor buries father

THE burial of Sir Richard Okeke, the father of Anambra
State Deputy Governor, Dr. Nkem Okeke, on Friday,
was like a carnival for pickpockets.
No fewer than 10 cell phones, several handbags and
cash were stolen from guests at the funeral, which
took place at Enugu Ukwu, Njikoka Local Government
Area of the state.

The Master of Ceremony, Mr. Chido Obidiegwu,
disturbed by the ugly trend, continually warned guests
to guard their phones and other personal effects as
complaints of missing phones had increased.
At the graveside, when the patriarch of the Okeke
family was been lowered to his final rest place, a
female voice shouted, “My money, my money”.
She pounced on a young man near her and N100,000
was found in the young man’s pocket.
Security agents went for the man; beat him thoroughly
before whisking him away.
At the VIP tent, one of those who lost their phones and
other valuables, Mrs Roseline Okoye, said she lost
N50,000 and a phone.
She said, “I bought that phone just last week and it
was a costly phone. I bought it N60,000. They took
everything with my handbag. There was N50,000 in
that bag. What is all this?
“How can this happened in this high class VIP tent.
No poor person was allowed into this tent where I was
sitting. How can this happen here? I’m confused”, she
lamented.
Pa Richard Okeke died at the age of 88. He was a
retired engineer and contractor. His funeral was
attended by top class politicians in the country.
Former Vice President, Dr. Alex Ekwueme; Anambra
State Governor, Chief Willie Obiano; his Enugu
counterpart, Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi; Deputy Senate
President, Ike Enweremadu, were among the
dignitaries that bade the deceased farewell.
Others at the church service held at Immanuel
Anglican Church, Enugwu-Ukwu were former
Governor of Anambra State, Mr. Peter Obi, and five
deputy governors of Delta, Bayelsa, Enugu, Ebonyi,
Cross River and Adamawa.
Former Governor of Cross River State, Liyel Imoke;
National Assembly members, Anambra State speaker,
Hon. Rita Maduagwu; industrialist, Chief Godwin
Ezeemo; Senator Uche Ekwunife were also in
attendance.
The Dean of Anglican Communion, Archbishop
Christian Efobi, led over 100 other clerics, including 12
archbishops to the ceremony.
In his sermon, The Most Rev. Efobi, blamed Christians
for the numerous problems bedeviling the country
including Boko-Haram, Niger Delta Avengers, among
others.
He said Christians were not strong in their prayers to
avert some of the problems confronting the country,
adding that all hands must be on deck to salvage
Nigeria from its current situation.
He said, “Christians need to pray hard for President
Buhari to take Nigeria to the Promised Land, all these
problems confronting this nation were because we
have not prayed hard and this is the time for that.”
Efobi described the late Richard Okeke as a unique
person that served God with all his heart.
Anambra State Governor, Chief Willie Obiano, in his
speech, described the deceased as a great man and
implored the children to emulate their father’s legacy.
Deputy Governor, Dr. Nkem Okeke, thanked
everybody that had given honour to his father.
He said his father’s death was a celebration of life,
noting that his father lived a simple life that should be
emulated by all.
He said, “There is nothing sad about this process and
my father left a wonderful legacy for the family and
for everybody to emulate. Therefore, this is real
celebration”

No June 12 holiday in Lagos, Ogun, Oyo

Indications have emerged that this year’s celebration
of the anniversary of the June 12, 1993 presidential
election in the South-West may not be marked with
the usual.
Unlike what obtained before, only Osun State declared
a public holiday for the event while Lagos will only
hold a talk cum symposium. Other states,
investigations, revealed, have no definite programmes
lined up for the day. There are six states in the South-
West geo-political zone.
In Ekiti, Governor Ayodele Fayose said he would not
declare a public holiday in Ekiti State to celebrate
June 12.
His Chief Press Secretary, Mr. Idowu Adelusi, simply
said, “No” when asked by our correspondent if the
governor would declare a public holiday.
Adelusi did not give a reason for the decision.
The Ondo State Government said it did not declare a
public holiday to commemorate June 12 because the
day fell on a Sunday which is a resting day for public
and private workers.
But the state Commissioner for information, Mr.
Kayode Akinmade, said apart from the day being a
Sunday, the state has a special way of celebrating
June 12.
He said, “ We have our own special way of marking
June 12, tomorrow (today) will mark four years of our
Free Shuttle Bus Scheme and what it stands for is to
ensure that we democratise access to good things of
life and we want to ensure that we use the
instrumentality of government to help the less-
privileged.
“Abiola’s philosophy when he was alive was
egalitarianism; life abundance for all. It is not about
organising events to mark the day, it is about
practising the tenet, and the practice can be seen in
our programme in Ondo State.”
The Secretary to the Ogun State Government, Taiwo
Adeoluwa, told one of our correspondents that the
state government would not declare Monday a work-
free day in marking this year’s June 12 celebration.
Adeoluwa said all the events for June 12 would be
held on Sunday.
He disclosed that there would be democracy walk by
government officials, civil society organisations, and
students, among others to the Oke-Ido ancestral home
of the late Abiola.
He said, “Every June 12 of each year is declared a
work-free day in the state. This year it fell on a
Sunday, and we shall mark it on that day. We will not
kill another working day by declaring Monday another
work-free day.”
A source in the Oyo State Government said there was
no event slated for the celebration of the day by the
state government.
“As far as I am concerned, I am not aware of any
event or activity slated for the day by the government.
I am also not aware that a public holiday may be
declared,” the source told one of our correspondents.

FORMER SUPER EAGLES COACH AMODU SHUAIBU DIES AT 58

Amodu Shuaibu’s death comes three days after that
of former Super Eagles Captain and Coach, Stephen
Keshi.
– Amodu was born 18 April, 1958 in Edo State.
– Before his latest appointment, Amodu had
managed Nigeria three different occasions: 1998–
1999, 2001–2002 and 2008–2010
– He was appointed Head Coach of the Nigerian
national side in April 2008, and was sacked on 6
February 2010 despite reaching third place with the
national side in the 2010 African Cup of Nations.
– He was demoted to serve as the coach of the
Nigerian home-based Eagles.
– Amodu led Nigeria to the AFCON bronze medal at
Mali 2002 and Angola 2010.
– Other accomplishments include Nigerian FA Cup
titles with BCC Lions of Gboko and El Kanemi
Warriors on multiple occasions.
– He was appointed technical director of Nigeria’s
national teams in May 2013.
– In November he was named Technical Director of
Bendel Insurance F.C.
– Some of the club sides Amodu has coached in the
past both in Nigeria and overseas include: Shooting
Stars, BCC Lions, El Kanemi Warriors, Sharks F.C
and Orlando Pirates of South Africa.

Drowned Unilag students buried amid tears

Tears flowed freely on Friday at the Ikoyi Cemetary,
Lagos, as the remains of Adesola Ogunmefun and
Olufunmilayo Odusina, two University of Lagos post-
graduate students who drowned and died during one
of their friend’s birthday party at a private beach in the
Lekki area of the city on June 6, 2016, were finally
laid to rest.
An emotional tribute service which started as early as
11:00am, saw family members, friends and well
wishers of the departed young women pour out in
droves to bid them farewell.
In glowing words, mourners at the event paid tributes
to the victims who many described as very charming
and promising.
Sunmibola Ogunmefun, a sibling to the late Adesola,
said even though the family is in mourning, they are
consoled by the good life she lived and impact she
made during her sojourn on earth.
“Very simplistic, you’ve never been the kind to take
things too seriously and your smile is from ear to ear.
Keeping malice with you was futile, you’d always find
a way to break the ice…never one to hold grudge.
“Sola, in your short years on earth, you’ve connected
us with so many people and your death has brought
reconciliation…you are indeed a special one,” she said
while paying homage to her late sister.
Modupe Mujota, a boss to the late Adesola, described
her as not only a workaholic but also a young lady
with a warm heart.
In her tribute, she said, “Desola took care of me. She
would wake me up daily at 6am and like a child I
would often beg her for 15 more minutes. As many
times as I asked, she would oblige me, she was that
caring.
“Desola, our loss is heaven’s gain, light it up as
always with your brilliant smiles. We love you dearly.”
Born on April 12, 1989, Adesola attended the Federal
Airport Authority of Nigeria Staff School Ikeja, Lagos,
Home Science Association of Nigeria Secondary
School and Covenant University before proceeding to
the University of Lagos for a Masters degree in
International Law.
Until her painful demise, she worked as Personal
Assistant to the Commissioner of Education, Science
and Technology, Ogun State.
Odusina equally described as an easy-going and
lovable young woman, was born on February 13,
1991.

Mimiko pleads with striking workers over hospital patients

Ondo State Governor, Dr. Olusegun Mimiko, has made
a fresh plea to the state’s striking workers to return to
work in the interest of the people.
Mimiko, who made the plea on Friday in Akure, urged
the workers to consider the effects their actions were
having on the people, especially those with health
challenges.
He said the workers’ action had begun having negative
effect on patients in the state’s hospitals.
The governor said he was ready to pay health, local
government workers and teachers to enable his
administration to generate some money.
Mimiko, therefore, appealed to them to call off the
one-week old strike and consider his commitment not
to retrench any worker in spite of the dwindling
resources accruable to the state.
While stressing that the continuation of the strike
would retard the economic growth of the state, the
governor asked the people of the state to see the
current situation in the country as a collective
challenge that “we must face and proffer solution to.”
According to him, his administration has been prudent
with the meagre resources accrued to the state to
ensure adequate security of lives and property, as well
as provide infrastructure.
The governor said, “We are in a very difficult time in
Nigeria and I have absolutely nothing against your
protest. I can’t imagine somebody working diligently
or not too diligently, but worked for five months
without pay, especially in an economy that depends
mainly on salary.

“Your protest has been peaceful and that is what
democracy is all about. People must be able to
ventilate their feelings just like you are ventilating
yours. But it is important for us to know the truth
because it is the truth that can set us free.”

Obama to honour Ooni as NYC declares Yoruba Day

The Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi, Ojaja II, was on
Friday hosted by the indigenes of Ile-Ife, Osun State,
resident in the United States.
The monarch, with his entourage, was received at the J.F.
Kennedy Airport, New York, by leaders of Ife indigenes
and other Nigerians in the US on Thursday.
A New York City Senator, Kevin Parker, and the Brooklyn
Borough President, Eric Adams, said the city had secured
a proclamation to declare Monday, June 13, 2016 as
Yoruba Day.
They said the action was to honour the monarch.
According to a statement, the Ooni has also been billed to
visit President Barack Obama at the White House, where
he will receive an award.
The statement added that a number of programmes had
been scheduled to honour the traditional ruler while in the
country.
As part of activities in his visit to the US, the Ooni will on
Sunday, June 12, 2016, be the Special Guest of Honour at
the prestigious Odunde festival.
The festival, which promotes the culture of the Yoruba
race, was created in 1975 by Lois Fernandez and Ruth
Arthur, and attracts about 500,000 people annually.
The event will provide an opportunity for the monarch to
interact with the over 3,000 Ife indigenes in the US on
how to develop Ile-Ife.
The statement said, “On the same day, the Museum of the
Contemporary African Diaspora Arts will receive the
monarch in a private reception as well as a public forum
session.
“Expected at the event will be Brooklyn Borough President
and a New York City Public Advocate, Leticia James. The
monarch will then move to the Mid-West and other parts
of the country to attend economic and leadership
summits before being received by President Barack
Obama through The White House Office of Faith-based
and Neighbourhood Partnerships.”
The Chairman of the Grand Reception Planning
Committee and one of the leaders of Ife Ooye North
America group, Chief Olubunmi Awopileda, said, “All Ife
natives in the US are excited and energised for this
epochal occasion. It will be an occasion to showcase our
very rich culture with our king as the symbol.”

2016/2017 FIRST ADMISSION SCREENING EXERCISE (100
LEVEL) AND DIRECT ENTRY CANDIDATES
1. APPLICATION
Applications are invited from qualified candidates for the
Lagos State University 2016/2017 Admission Screening
Exercise, for candidates seeking admission via UTME (100
level). These screening exercises are mandatory
requirements for entry into Lagos State University.
There shall be two rounds of Admission Screening Exercise.
2. ELIGIBILITY
A. Candidates who have Lagos State University as their
Choice of institution in the 2016 Unified Tertiary
Matriculation Examinations (UTME), and have scored a
minimum of 190 marks are eligible to participate in the
Admission Screening Exercises. In addition, candidates
must be at least 16 years of age.
B. ALL Direct Entry candidates who wish to be considered
for admission into Lagos State University for the 2016/2017
academic session, who must have obtained Direct Entry
Form from JAMB are also eligible and must apply for the
screening exercise. However, these applicants are
EXEMPTED from the Admission Screening. Online
registration is compulsory for them.
C. Candidates of Lagos State Origin, for 100 & 200 levels will
be required (if admitted) to prove their claims before the
Independent Indigeneship Verification Committee (lIVC) set
up by the Lagos State University.
D. Candidates should note that ONLY the accredited courses
listed below are available for the 2016/2017 Academic
Session. Therefore, only candidates that have chosen any of
the underlisted courses should apply.

3. METHOD OF APPLICATION
A. ONLINE PAYMENT
1. Prospective students will visit
www.screening.lasu.edu.ng and select MAKE PAYMENT
option in the drop down list at the top, to make the required
payment of N5,000 for the 2016/2017 LASU Admission
Screening Exercise.
The prospective students would be required to submit the
following:
a. JAMB Registration Number
b. Surname, First name, Middle name
c. Email Address and telephone number (both must be
active and personal to the applicant)
2. Click on PROCEED
3. On the next page, a TRANSACTION ID to be used for
PAYMENT would be displayed. The candidate should copy
this TRANSACTION ID and proceed for PAYMENT at http://
www.quickteller.com/lasu
4. On http://www.quickteller.com/lasu page,
(i) Click on PAY
(ii) Enter your email address, GSM number.
(iii) Also enter the Transaction ID copied in step 3 above
(iv) Proceed to enter details of your ATM card
(v) Click Process payment
(vi) Print your Payment receipt from the screen. A
transaction message will be sent to your email and GSM,
hence the need to use your personal E-rnail address and
GSM number.
B. SCREENING EXERCISE REGISTRATION
1. After successful payment for LASU 2016/2017
Admission screening exercise, return to
screening.lasu.edu.ng and select CONTINUE
REGISTRATION option in the drop down list at the top.
2. Prospective candidates should enter the required details
(JAMB Registration number, surname and Mode of Entry -
UME or DE).
3. Click on PROCEED button to load the Registration Form.
Each applicant is expected to complete the registration form
by providing the following information.
· Candidates will be required to upload a scanned copy of
their passport size photograph (File Size: Not more than
20KB; File format: JPEG [i.e. ‘jpg’]). Application for change
of passport photograph by candidates given provisional
admission shall NOT be allowed. This same passport
photograph, uploaded by such candidates, will be used on
their degree certificates.
· ONLY ONE CHOICE OF COURSE OF STUDY IS ALLOWED
· Carefully study the agreement form. If you agree to the
stated terms, click on the 'I agree’ button on the left-hand
side of the page.
Note: If you do not agree to the stated terms you will not be
permitted to go beyond this point. Please read and
understand the terms before registering.
· Fill in all required details contained on the online
registration form. Confirm THAT DETAILS ARE ACCURATE
then click FINISH. To make changes, before you click finish,
you may click on the Edit button.
· Candidates must possess five (5) O' Level credits in
subjects relevant to their desired course of study at not
more than two sittings.
· Credit in English Language is compulsory for admission
into all courses in Lagos State University.
· Candidates awaiting the result of NABTEB, WAEC (May/
June) and NECO (June/July) 2016, are eligible to apply.
Note that any examination taken after July 2016 shall not
be accepted.
· Make sure you print your Registration Form/Slip as this
serves as your entry ticket into the screening hall.
· Candidate should know that both payment and registration
would end two [2] weeks before the advertised date of the
Screening Exercises.
· Candidate should visit www.screening.lasu.edu.ng a week
before the advertised date of the Screening Tests to check
the Sitting Arrangement and reprint the Registration Slip.
Registration for the payment of application fee for the
Admission Screening Exercise starts from Thursday, June 9,
2016 and registration closes Friday, June 24, 2016.
Applicants for the LASU 2016/2017 Admission Screening
Exercise should NOTE that the screening will be conducted
using the newly developed "LASU-COMPUTER BASED TEST
(CBT) SOFTWARE".
All applicants are therefore advised to re-visit LASU
Admission Screening Exercise portal as from JUNE 27 –
JULY 3, 2016 to re-print their Admission Screening
Identification Slip in order to know the venue, date and time
of the screening.
Applicants who DID NOT choose LASU as the University of
Choice in the 2016/2017 UTME are not eligible.
The detailed results of the screening shall be published on
LASU website: www.lasu.edu.ng immediately after each
day of screening.

Few days ago, a retired Nigerian Soldier, Sani Adamu, who
served with President Buhari as a driver in Lagos (1963) and
during biafra civil war made a video message where he
pleaded with the President to come to his help as he could
not fend for himself and his family.Aisha Buhari reached out
to him by sending some food and other household items to

Peace be upon you. My name is Sani Adamu
My greetings to General Muhammadu Buhari, the President
of Nigeria, a man who shows mercy to the poor and a
trustworthy man.
I urge you to please remember us, the ex-servicemen.
Please help us, help us with what to eat.
I previously complained but never received any response.
I beg you to help me from your pocket and not from
government funds.
I lived with you in Lagos in 1963. We stayed together at the
barracks and you were our transport officer.
I was also the driver who served with you in the bush during
biafra civil war. I was the driver who pepper got into his eye,
and you stopped to ask what had happened to my car.
I am Sani Adamu, soldier, 1963, ex-servicemen. I want you
to help me, I have two wives and five children.

Ambode sacks 57 LG Executive Secretaries

Following the resolution of the Lagos State House of
Assembly on Thursday relieving the Executive Secretaries of
the 57 Local Governments Councils and Local Council
Development Areas (LCDAs) in the State of their
responsibilities, the State Governor, Mr Akinwunmi Ambode
has approved the immediate dissolution of the Caretaker
Committees.
In a statement signed by the Secretary to the State
Government (SSG), Mr Tunji Bello, the Governor also
directed the Executive Secretaries to hand over the reins of
administration to the Head of Administration in each of the
Council Areas.
Thursday’s dissolution of the Caretaker committees is
preparatory to the holding of elections into the 57 Council
Areas by the State Government and ensuring that the
necessary machineries are put in place preparatory to the
elections.
The State House of Assembly had also on April 22 this year
passed into law a bill recommending a four year tenure for
elected Local Government helmsmen instead of the three
years tenure that hitherto obtained.
It would be recalled that the Caretaker Committees which
was headed by Executive Secretaries were inaugurated by
former Governor, Mr Babatunde Fashola on January 5,
2015.

Former Super Eagles Coach, Stephen Keshi, Is Dead!

Nigerian football icon stephen Okechukwu keshi died
suddenly in the early hours of Wednesday in Benin City,
Edo state, TheCable understands.
The former international football player and coach had
lost his wife of 33 years, Kate, last year after a prolonged
battle with cancer.
TheCable confirmed his death from a member of his
family as well as one of his close associates.
“He was not ill at all, never showed any signs of illness,
but we suspect he never got over the death of his wife,” a
friend said.
He is survived by four children and his mother.
keshi, the only Nigerian coach to have won the Africa Cup
of Nations, achieved a rare feat in 2013 by becoming only
the second person to win the trophy both as a player and
a coach.
The only other person to have achieved the feat is Egypt’s
Mahmoud El-Gohary.
keshi, a product of St. Finbarr’s College, Akoka, Lagos,
started his playing career at a very young age at ACB
Football Club, and later played for New Nigeria Bank,
Stade d’Abidjan, Africa Sports, Lokeren, Anderlecht, RC
Strasbourg, and a host of other clubs.
He represented Nigeria from 1982, at age 20, till 1994,
most of the time captaining the Super Eagles and scoring
vital goals from his position as a central defender.
He also coached Togo and Nigeria at the World Cup, as
well as Mali.
keshi, nicknamed the “Big Boss” for his leadership skills,
is the fifth member of the all-conquering 1994 team to
die, following Uche Okafor, Thompson Oliha, Rashidi
Yekini and Wilfred Agbonavbare.
