Adepoju, Nwosu, others hail Eaglets 3-0 trashing of bazil

Some football stakeholders on Monday commended the
Golden Eaglets on their 3-0 victory against Brazil in the
ongoing 2015 FIFA U-17 World Cup in Chile.
The Golden Eaglets trashed their Brazilian counterpart in
one of the quarter-final matches played on Sunday, to
advance into the semi-finals of the tournament.
The team’s three goals came from Victor Osimhen in the
29th minute, Kingsley Michael in 30th minute and
Udochukwu Anumudu, in the 34th minute.
Stakeholders who spoke with the News Agency of Nigeria
expressed satisfaction with the team’s performance and
urged them to sustain the tempo in the remaining matches.
Henry Nwosu, an ex-international, congratulated the players
and the technical crew for putting up an outstanding
performance against Brazil.
He, however, warned the team against complacency in the
remaining matches of the tournament.
“I just want to congratulate the players and the crew for a
job well done, because it feels good when we defeat a team
like Brazil by scoring three goals just like that.
“They have made the country very proud, but they must also
not relent and they should do more until they achieve their
dream, which is bringing the cup back home,” Nwosu said.
Sani Toro, a former Nigeria Football Federation Secretary
General, also heaped praises on the U-17 team and the
technical crew led by Emmanuel Amuneke.
He described the performance of the team against Brazil as
‘fantastic’.
“I wish on behalf of myself and my family, to congratulate
Amunueke, Golden Eaglets and the NFF for the Golden
Eaglets’ defeat of Brazil, 3-0, in the quarter-finals of the U-17
world cup.
“We will continue to pray for the team to win the cup, God
willing; once again, congratulations,” Toro said.
Mutiu Adepoju, another ex- international, also lauded the
team on a well deserved victory against Brazil.
He said that the performance signalled that the team was
determined to retain the trophy Nigeria won in United Arab
Emirate in 2013.
Adepoju, however, advised the team to concentrate on
winning the next two matches on their way to win the cup.
“They played very well and it was a nice victory; they kept
Brazil on their toes from the beginning to the end of the
game.
“With the way they have played so far, it is obvious they are
doing very well and I hope that they get to the finals and win
the tournament,,’’ Adepoju said.
Solomon Asowata, a journalist and football pundit,
commended the Golden Eaglets defence line for an
impressive performance.
He said that the team worked together and utilised the
chances that came their way.
“The two full backs were impressive in their overlapping; the
team took their chance which was good, winning a match is
not all about ball possession, but about scoring goals.
“If they sustain this tempo, which I pray they do, and keep
working as a team, I believe they will bring the cup back,” he
said.
The Eaglets are looking forward to a semi-final showdown
with the winner of the quarter-final match between Mexico
and Ecuador.
